Someone in the Post finally nails the 08 race and Gore.

Al Gore has been in town launching his new book, "The Assault on Reason," and you could have predicted the buzz: Is he about to jump into the race? What you probably wouldn't have predicted is the counter-buzz that Gore, poor fellow, is just too ostentatiously smart to be elected president.

In the book, you see, Gore betrays familiarity with history, economics, even science. He uses big words, often several in the same sentence. And in public appearances he doesn't even try to disguise his erudition. These supposedly are glaring shortcomings that should keep Gore on the sidelines, rereading Gibbon and exchanging ideas about the structure of the cosmos with Stephen Hawking.

Leave aside the question of whether Gore is even thinking about another presidential run, or how he would stack up against the other candidates. I'm making a more general point: One thing that should be clear to anyone who's been paying attention these past few years is that we need to go out and get ourselves the smartest president we can find. We need a brainiac president, a regular Mister or Miss Smarty-Pants. We need to elect the kid you hated in high school, the teacher's pet with perfect grades.

Wow, I am blow away -Mr Robinson you sir are correct., I guess I should not be cuz someone in the media had to come out and say it. The real problem is the we needed this person 7 years ago and the next President will have to do more, be more and say more than any president since Abe Lincoln.

The real problem is the we needed this person 7 years ago and the next President will have to do more, be more and say more than any president since Abe Lincoln.

That said the counter buzz has noted on several blogs and commentary way before the book came out cuz that is all they have on Gore. He is too smart.........and most knew going in to 2000 that the current occupant of Penn Ave, NW is not and not too many are impressed and probably have been pealing their bumper stickers off the SUV.

Shouldn't the President be the smartest person in the Room?

Dana Milbank - Is It Wise to Be So Smart? - washingtonpost.com
s It Wise to Be So Smart?

By Dana Milbank
Wednesday, May 30, 2007; Page A02

A capacity crowd of 1,500 people jammed into Lisner Auditorium at George Washington University last night for Al Gore's speech and book-signing. But the numbers don't matter: Even if Gore were speaking before a sellout crowd at Verizon Center, he would still be the smartest guy in the room.

He reminded his listeners of this repeatedly last night.

Couple of points Milbank,

We have seen what the country gets when we don't even have the smartest guy in the room leading us. Not very smart policies, actions and subordinates that flaunt the law and lead us into equally disastrous undertakings.

I love this quote in the article
"It's the biggest problem he's got," said Schwartz, from Germantown. "People don't want somebody who makes them feel stupid."

Well Schwartz we got that leader right now how do you feel.......? Sure you are possible misquoted here but the writer of the article did if for a reason.

As for the group giving out the stickers and buttons, It called AlGore.org and DC for Gore 08 is the DC branch of em.

So I would guess a reporter that can't get their facts straight would not like a President that can which explains the underhanded hit piece this article amounts too.

Television Stars and Politican above the law. R U?

Seat belt gaffe noted on `Today' show - Yahoo! News
NEW YORK - NBC's Matt Lauer didn't learn his lesson from interviewing New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine about the governor's near-fatal car crash while riding without wearing a safety belt.

A few weeks after that chat, there was Lauer on "Today" on Wednesday, sitting in the back of a sport utility vehicle interviewing Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney. Both men were unbuckled.

So we normal American's go about our jobs, raising our families and wearing our seat belts while Stars and Politician (not just Mitt, but the President of the United States ) basically show total competent for the law. Heck it is click it or ticket it month or some other bs they are trying to parade around as public service.

How much longer are we going to take this crap......When our public servants flaunt the laws. "Romney also said he needs to keep reminding himself to buckle up." Why is he not just doing what every one of us do when we get in a car.

If you or I get pulled over do you think the police are going to give you a break....These jerks even aired this on TV and no one thought it would be a problem in the editing room.

How out of touch with the American facts of life are they or is it just us........

PS put even one of those coke snorting drunk driving Hollyweirdo in JAIL.

Secret GOP Hit List--Did they really do this????????

Buffalo Soldiers Scrubbed by Secret GOP Hit List

Massacre of the Buffalo Soldiers
by Greg Palast
As reported for Democracy Now!

[1]

Palast, who first reported this story for BBC Television Newsnight (UK) and Democracy Now! (USA), is author of the New York Times bestseller, [2] Armed Madhouse.

The Republican National Committee has a special offer for African-American soldiers: Go to Baghdad, lose your vote.

A confidential campaign directed by GOP party chiefs in October 2004 sought to challenge the ballots of tens of thousands of voters in the last presidential election, virtually all of them cast by residents of Black-majority precincts.
Files from the secret vote-blocking campaign were obtained by BBC Television Newsnight, London. They were attached to emails accidentally sent by Republican operatives to a non-party website.

One group of voters wrongly identified by the Republicans as registering to vote from false addresses: servicemen and women sent overseas.

*******
For Greg Palast’s discussion with broadcaster Amy Goodman on the Black soldier purge of 2004, go to [3] http://gregpalast.com/armedmadhouse/palastDN6-14-06.mp3

*******

Here’s how the scheme worked: The RNC mailed these voters letters in envelopes marked, “Do not forward”, to be returned to the sender. These letters were mailed to servicemen and women, some stationed overseas, to their US home addresses. The letters then returned to the Bush-Cheney campaign as “undeliverable.”

The lists of soldiers of “undeliverable” letters were transmitted from state headquarters, in this case Florida, to the RNC in Washington. The party could then challenge the voters’ registration and thereby prevent their absentee ballots being counted.

One target list was comprised exclusively of voters registered at the Jacksonville, Florida, Naval Air Station. Jacksonville is third largest naval installation in the US, best known as home of the Blue Angels fighting squandron.

[See this scrub sheet at [4] http://flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=160156893&context=set-72157594155273706&size=o ]

Our team contacted the homes of several on the caging list, such as Randall Prausa, a serviceman, whose wife said he had been ordered overseas.

A soldier returning home in time to vote in November 2004 could also be challenged on the basis of the returned envelope. Soldiers challenged would be required to vote by “provisional” ballot.

Over one million provisional ballots cast in the 2004 race were never counted; over half a million absentee ballots were also rejected. The extraordinary rise in the number of rejected ballots was the result of the widespread multi-state voter challenge campaign by the Republican Party. The operation, of which the purge of Black soldiers was a small part, was the first mass challenge to voting America had seen in two decades.

The BBC obtained several dozen confidential emails sent by the Republican’s national Research Director and Deputy Communications chief, Tim Griffin to GOP Florida campaign chairman Brett Doster and other party leaders. Attached were spreadsheets marked, “Caging.xls.” Each of these contained several hundred to a few thousand voters and their addresses.

A check of the demographics of the addresses on the “caging lists,” as the GOP leaders called them indicated that most were in African-American majority zip codes.

Ion Sanco, the non-partisan elections supervisor of Leon County (Tallahassee) when shown the lists by this reporter said: “The only thing I can think of - African American voters listed like this - these might be individuals that will be challenged if they attempted to vote on Election Day.”

These GOP caging lists were obtained by the same BBC team that first exposed the wrongful purge of African-American “felon” voters in 2000 by then-Secretary of State Katherine Harris. Eliminating the voting rights of those voters — 94,000 were targeted — likely caused Al Gore’s defeat in that race.

The Republican National Committee in Washington refused our several requests to respond to the BBC discovery. However, in Tallahassee, the Florida Bush campaign’s spokespeople offered several explanations for the list.

Joseph Agostini, speaking for the GOP, suggested the lists were of potential donors to the Bush campaign. Oddly, the supposed donor list included residents of the Sulzbacher Center a shelter for homeless families.

Another spokesperson for the Bush campaign, Mindy Tucker Fletcher, ultimately changed the official response, acknowledging that these were voters, “we mailed to, where the letter came back - bad addresses.”

The party has refused to say why it would mark soldiers as having “bad addresses” subject to challenge when they had been assigned abroad.

The apparent challenge campaign was not inexpensive. The GOP mailed the letters first class, at a total cost likely exceeding millions of dollars, so that the addresses would be returned to “cage” workers.

“This is not a challenge list,” insisted the Republican spokesmistress. However, she modified that assertion by adding, “That’s not what it’s set up to be.”
Setting up such a challenge list would be a crime under federal law. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 outlaws mass challenges of voters where race is a factor in choosing the targeted group.

While the party insisted the lists were not created for the purpose to challenge Black voters, the GOP ultimately offered no other explanation for the mailings. However, Tucker Fletcher asserted Republicans could still employ the list to deny ballots to those they considered suspect voters. When asked if Republicans would use the list to block voters, Tucker Fletcher replied, “Where it’s stated in the law, yeah.”

It is not possible at this time to determine how many on the potential blacklist were ultimately challenged and lost their vote. Soldiers sending in their ballot from abroad would not know their vote was lost because of a challenge.

Democratic Leadership

3431, as of today, American Lives have been lost in this illegal war and and the The leadership of the Democratic party has betrayed the voters that sent them into office in 06.

This recent action is a total sellout and I trust that everyone of them are are voted out of office in 08 and then the next election cycle for those that are left. I already thought that the Republican had sold their souls to Bush & Co. now I know most in Congress is willing to do the same.

Get they out of office.........................

Boycott -- Roger Daltrey do not buy his records

The Sun Online - Bizarre: Who c-cares about Live Earth?

Who c-cares about Live Earth?

May 19, 2007

JUST when it looked like every rock star on the planet was jumping aboard AL GORE's green bandwagon, there’s a backlash already underway.

THE WHO's ROGER DALTRY has blasted the big Wembley gig Gore is organising to raise awareness of global warming.

The huge concert - which features performances from the likes of MADONNA and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS - is taking place at Wembley on July 7 and in other countries around the world.

But Roger, who played with U2 at Live Aid and Live8, reckons the whole thing is a waste of time.

Speaking exclusively to Bizarre, Roger said: "Bo***cks to that! The last thing the planet needs is a rock concert.

"I can't believe it. Let's burn even more fuel.

"We have problems with global warming, but the questions and the answers are so huge I don't know what a rock concert's ever going to do to help.

"Everybody on this planet at the moment, unless they are living in the deepest rainforest in Brazil, knows about climate change.”

The rocker, who used to sing about my g-generation, added: "My answer is to burn all the f***ing oil as quick as possible and then the politicians will have to find a solution.”

So another day and another Star from a by-gone era showing why they are by go, or that the world has gone by them. To so climb out of what hole Daltrey did and make a reappearance on the world stage parroting lines from George Bush shows what this man is made of --Carbon......

Look I love the Who, I have several of their songs on my portable player, and yet I think that I am going to have to do something to show this man and his band mates if they do not come out and repudiate this that those of us that want to pass a better place along to our children mean business.

So what can we do to hurt his business. Stop buying Roger Daltrey records, ok so most have done this already, but seriously any thing that is associated with him needs to be boycotted.

If your a fellow blogger and will offer to display boycott and Ban Daltrey banner please let us know and we will link to your blog, website or poster and would like you to do the same.

Who is Gelfof to be criticing anyone and what has he done for the planet of late.

Geldof criticizes Gore's Live Earth - Yahoo! News
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands -
Bob Geldof, who organized the Live Aid and Live 8 benefit concerts, criticized the Live Earth music events
Al Gore is putting together this summer, saying they lack a specific goal, according to a Dutch newspaper report Saturday.

The Live Earth concerts will be held in cities around the world on July 7, with proceeds funding a yet-to-be-named foundation to combat climate change, under Gore's direction.

The shows will take place in London; New York; Tokyo; Shanghai, China; Johannesburg, South Africa; Sydney, Australia; and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Organizers have also promised an event in Antarctica.

"I hope they're a success," De Volkskrant newspaper quoted Geldof as saying in an interview.

"But why is (Gore) actually organizing them? To make us aware of the greenhouse effect? Everybody's known about that problem for years. We are all (expletive) conscious of global warming," he said.

Actually Bob in the United States there is not a general awareness of this issues....I am not sure what your source is or if your are thinking about the people you know but here in the States this is not front page news.....Perhaps you missed the flap about including Climate conditions and the risk that it poses on our national security in the NIE that are produced for the President each day. More than one member of our congress decided that it was not important and tried to have such things excluded.

Oh I get what is gong on, only you are allowed to produce concerts that would be about helping the planet earth and it's inhabiter's.......Sorry to let you in on this news flash-- there is a new show on the road and it's being lead by the last popular undisputed elected President of these here United States --Al Gore...........

Dude, Al is 3rd....

Fineman: The year of the Third Force - The Debates - MSNBC.com
Some Democratic wise guys predict that Al Gore will enter the Democratic primary race this fall. A close Tennessee friend of his told me gravely the other day, “Al is doing cardio.” That was supposed to mean the Big Guy is getting in shape for the Dem race. I doubt it. Polls show that Democrats are reasonably content with their field of contenders. Hillary, Obama and Edwards are formidable.

Not sure what Polls this bloke is reading but USA Today reported to day that a recent Gallop Poll showed Al Gore in 3rd place.........BTW.......

Gore backers hold on to cash and to a dream......................

Gore backers hold on to cash -- The Washington Times
Gore backers hold on to cash

Prominent political fundraisers who backed Al Gore's 2000 presidential campaign are reserving support for the current slate of 2008 Democrats in hopes the former vice president will swoop in for another White House bid.
H.E. "Sonny" Cauthen Jr. told The Washington Times he has been flattered to get calls from candidates asking for his help this time around, but said he is hesitating on picking one while he waits to see what Mr. Gore decides.
"If he wants to run, I would be very supportive of that," said Mr. Cauthen, a founding partner of the Washington lobbying firm Cauthen Forbes & Williams and a 2000 fundraiser for the Gore campaign.
"I just don't see any reason for him not to run," Mr. Cauthen added. "He's the only prospective candidate we have who has already won one time. He didn't serve -- he was denied the presidency -- but he won that race."

I believe that any of the front runners on the Democratic side can win in 08, but the difference is that Al Gore is just best suited at this point in time to restore hope here in our system and abroad in the belief that America is a leader nation The only issues we lead on today is militarism, greed and abandonment of our our social network to support those that did not have a trust fund or a job waiting for them via mommy and daddy.

During these last 7 years I cannot see one area others then the ones I pointed out where American is perceived as a leader. How many countries is it unsafe for Americans to visit 7 years later. Our Olympic team had to travel in unmarked buses. They were not in Iraq they were at the gathering of nations for these games in blacked out buses. Plus aginst the very words he spoke prior to be elected George Bush is nation building in the last place in the world that American services personal should be and the last place in the world that want our help. Ever wonder about that folks.....Why we are really there. Just follow the money..................................

As for the home front goes gas is heading to 4 bucks a gallon, (part of the money trail) we are throwing the people out that are the very ones that we need to repopulate our numbers (that declining US birthrate) and working the jobs that most of us will not handle. This disconnect further divides us as a nation because Mr and Ms Smart ass are not going to bank a million without the help of many, many others including the immigrants that are watching their kid grown up or serving them a fast food invitation to a life in hell on drugs .

Who gains from all of this? I can tell you a hand full of companies do... Just look to those that are reaping record profits, anyone else notice that we are not hearing about these corporate windfalls. That is because those in control told the 5 outlet for 90 percent of the new s told them to lay off it. Does anyone really think that the oil companies, big pharma, and media mega giants are not swimming in money...........No because they are showing sports and entertainment stars with their drama as mainline news.

Is any of this helping our nation understand the perils that lay-in-waiting ....no. Some don't think we have a climate issue Then why is Florida's pre-census data showing a massive withdrawal of people out of the sunshine state. Because they no long like the beach the water. Nope they just don't want to be there when the water is above their roofs,

How about gangs of F2 - 5 tornadoes wiping whole towns off the map. I bet the National Guards would be useful in these situations. I hear the Gov. of Maryland is having a hard time understanding how to take care of Marylanders with so many troops and assets overseas. We are not that far away for hurricane season and with what is happening now including the flooding in the Midwest......

Anyone want to know what the Feds know about this--April 23, 2007 Executive Order Number 12148 created the Federal
Emergency Management Agency to interface with the Department of Defense for civil defense planning and funding. An "emergency czar" was appointed..For what end I ask?

Just look at the rebuilding efforts in NO, they known that sooner or latter the whole place is going to get flooded along with most of South Texas.and FLA...........and people are going to be angry so instead of helping them before it happens lets herd them up afterwards. I wonder what companies are going to make some mega bucks off this............

Guess who does know what is in store for us and may have a few good ideas on how to go about addressing them..................Well who is the only public figure out in front on the climate issue or stood up against the Presidents War, not mine not Congresses Bush alone declared war, Maybe Cheney did and told him to go look like the decider.

I say Give EM Gore............................................................................in 08.

Obama Takes over myspace account the wrong way

By NEDRA PICKLER,
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Is MySpace always mine or can it belong to someone else? At the cost of losing 160,000 friends, Democrat Barack Obama (news, bio, voting record)'s presidential campaign has taken over control of the MySpace page listed under his name on the popular social networking site.

The case highlights the struggle between campaigns' desire to control their message versus the power of voter-generated material. And it shows how one person — in this case Los Angeles paralegal Joe Anthony — can become an influence on presidential politics through the power of the Internet.

The dispute between the Obama campaign and Anthony, a one-time supporter who started the Obama MySpace page, became such a concern for the Illinois senator that he personally tried to smooth things over Wednesday night.

Anthony felt he was mistreated by the campaign after he spent the past 2 1/2 years running the MySpace page as an enthusiastic volunteer. At first, that arrangement was fine with the Obama team, which worked with Anthony on the content, promoted the link and even had the password to make changes.

But as the site exploded in popularity in recent months, the campaign became concerned about an outsider controlling the content and responses going out under Obama's name. It told Anthony it wanted him to turn it over.

In this new frontier of online campaigning, it's hard to determine the value of 160,000 MySpace friends — about four times what any other official campaign MySpace page had amassed. But the Obama campaign decided they wouldn't pay $39,000, which is what Anthony said he proposed for his extensive work on the site, plus some additional fees up to $10,000.

MySpace reluctantly stepped in to settle the dispute and decided that Obama should have the rights to control www.myspace.com/barackobama as of Monday night. Anthony had the right to take all the friends who signed up while he was in control, and that includes the right to tell them how he feels about the Obama campaign — although he said he was still locked out of the page with his contacts as of Wednesday.

Anthony wrote on his MySpace blog that he was heartbroken that the Obama campaign was "bullying" him out of the page he built. He initially said the candidate lost his vote, but Obama may have begun to win it back after a Wednesday evening phone call that Anthony called a great honor. Anthony said he was so nervous that he doesn't remember exactly what Obama said, but the candidate expressed his appreciation and they agreed everyone learned a lesson in this case.

"I assured him that this is just a horrible thing that happened and obviously he wasn't responsible," Anthony said in a blog post. "It'll take time for me to work this out and decide if I will personally continue to support Obama, regardless of how I feel about his campaign's handling of this situation."

Meanwhile, the Obama campaign was trying to rebuild his friends network from scratch and was up to more than 20,000 by Wednesday evening.

Joe Rospars, Obama's director of new media, wrote in a blog post that the campaign "decided to take a leap" in teaming up with an outside organizer on MySpace. He said the arrangement worked at first, but campaign officials became uncomfortable when Anthony changed the password to prevent them from working on the site and made his financial requests.

"We're going to try new things, and sometimes it's going to work, and sometimes it's not going to work," Rospars wrote. "That's the cost and that's the risk of experimenting."

The campaign's fight drew widespread criticism among leading liberal bloggers who question why they would treat a volunteer like Anthony with such disregard. But Obama has some online defenders who say volunteer work should remain that way and not be held up for payment.

Advocacy Inc. CEO Roger Alan Stone collects and sells contact information to Democratic campaigns, lawmakers and advocacy groups, but says he isn't working for any of the current White House candidates. He says e-mail addresses collected for such a cause can go for $1 each, so in that sense the price Anthony was asking was low.

But Stone comes down on the side of the Obama campaign in this dispute.

"As something that was done on a volunteer basis that you want to charge for after the fact, that is ridiculous," Stone said.

What, failure in Iraq, Say it ain't so Mr. President.

Bush Keeps Vow to Veto War Funding Bill
President Says Pullout Deadline Is 'Date for Failure'

By Michael Abramowitz and Peter Baker
Washington Post Staff Writers
Wednesday, May 2, 2007; Page A01

President Bush vetoed a $124 billion measure yesterday that would have funded overseas military operations but required him to begin withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq as early as July, escalating the most serious confrontation between the White House and Congress over war policy in a generation.

Bush carried through on his veto threat just after the legislation arrived at the White House, calling the timetable a "prescription for chaos and confusion" that would undercut generals. "Setting a deadline for withdrawal would demoralize the Iraqi people, would encourage killers across the broader Middle East and send a signal that America will not keep its commitments," he said last night. "Setting a deadline for withdrawal is setting a date for failure."

So we are have some successes? I am not trying to be funny I am asking someone, anyone to show me where we have done something right. I recall just hearing on on NPR that many of the projects that were built after the occupation of Iraq are failing or have not even been completed.

Our contractors are near criminal in their undertaking either bilking the US with inflated invoices or not even preforming the service they were contracted to preform. Some of them, the VP's company has even served our own troops water that was contaminated.

So Mr. President, what is the end game, more of the same and what will that get us in the long run. I does seem that your buddies are all making a bundle could that be the point of this war.........

Gore's candidacy heats up

By Trip Quillman

In spite of the late great Molly Ivins' admonition that only fools predict presidential elections, I cannot resist: Al Gore will run for the presidency in 2008, and he will win.

As a psychotherapist who spends his days wondering what motivates people, I believe the case for a Gore candidacy is compelling. To have been victorious in the 2000 election (both The New York Times and The Washington Post concluded, ultimately, that Gore won the Florida vote) and yet to have lost that office would have been at first devastating, then infuriating and, finally, maddening.

For anyone to have won the presidency and then to be denied his prize would be motivating beyond measure.

In his film "An Inconvenient Truth," Gore speaks movingly of "the moral imperative" to deal with global warming. There is no more powerful place on Earth from which to address the planet's woes than the Oval Office.

So this is pretty much my take on why he should and will run. I also think that looking at the overall Gore family the impact they could have on causes and issues that concern them. Let's face it being the family of the President is just a bit more compelling then the family of the former VP.........

Rice signals rejection of House subpoena

By MATTHEW LEE, Associated Press Writer 2 hours, 5 minutes ago

OSLO, Norway - Secretary of State
Condoleezza Rice said Thursday she has already answered the questions she has been subpoenaed to answer before a congressional committee and suggested she is not inclined to comply with the order.

Why would anyone of the the current administration think they need to comply with a request from Congress.

The same people seem to be paying their bills and said Rice did not have to do anything they did not want her to do or until all of Haliburton's records and executives are out of the US.

Wonder what they left for us in the refrigerator?

Running Man 2008?

BBC NEWS | Americas | Washington diary: Al Gore running
Washington diary: Al Gore running
By Matt Frei
BBC News, Washington

So is Al Gore running? The answer was not just a resounding yes. It was delivered breathlessly, impatiently, punctuated by huffs and puffs. There were neatly formed beads of sweat running down his cheeks.

Former US vice-president Al Gore
Al Gore has become a principal spokesman on global warming

Al was definitely running. No doubt about it! Proof positive. He was running on the running machine at a hotel in Los Angeles where I also happened to be staying.

While I was ploughing gently and unambitiously through the waters of the nearby pool I spotted him in the gym. He was reading the local paper while working the Stairmaster/running machine for at least an hour. I could practically see the pounds flying off him.

What more do people want-- Al Gore is running in public for an hour, reading the paper and no doubt working on some problem in his head that others are looking to focus groups to see how a potential voter would view said problem and the solution.

Al Gore is running and he is going to Win, put that in your bookmark.

MANCHESTER, N.H. - - Rudy Giuliani said if a Democrat is elected president in 2008, America will be at risk for another terrorist attack on the scale of Sept. 11, 2001.

But if a Republican is elected, he said, especially if it is him, terrorist attacks can be anticipated and stopped

I seem to recall that 9/11 happened while he was in office and the White House was and still is run by a republican. If this is the best they got, Only the belief in G*D is going to support those campaigns because the money can already smell the dead bodies. Good luck Rudy tying to get a table at the Palm in 09.

The UN environmental award goes to ----Shucks you all know it's Al Gore.

U.N. lauds Gore, environment leaders at green awards - Yahoo! News
SINGAPORE (Reuters) - The
United Nations named former U.S. Vice President
Al Gore and Olympics chief Jacques Rogge as recipients of environmental awards on Thursday, and urged more action to stop global warming. Only two of the seven winners were present at the ceremony in Singapore to receive trophies made from recycled metal.
Gore, a dedicated climate crusader who starred in his 2006 global warming documentary "An Inconvenient Truth," was represented by actress and environmental activist Daryl Hannah. "It has taken too long for global leaders, especially in the United States, to wake up to this fact and respond, but I have hope," Gore said in a speech read by Hannah at the ceremony.

If there is an award it is now safe to say the winner is Al Gore. Just put his name and send it via green express the Carbon Offsets are starting to pile on the Guy. Now if we just get to hear the winner of the 08 Presidential election is Al Gore who of the second time in as many trips as won the popular vote folks. We callin this one for Al Gore.

Should a congressional staffer draft our new Laws.

As it stands, the current path for the take over of DCPS will come about after 35 day of a bill langusishing in Congress which by mandate of the Home Rule Charter said bill become DC law.

So who is going to craft this bill and put thier name on it. Is is just going to show up in the hopper when the lights conviently go out. Then it is put aside for those thirty five days of death which in this case means life for this law.

Does anyone see the foolishness of the people supporting this manor of amending the charter and then asking for the right to vote. What will we have the DC exception...(The voting residence of the District reserve the right to do nothing on the really hard stuff)

I cant wait to see which wingnut is going to draft this bill. They rushed the Pat Act too.....Tell your national representatives to send the bill back to the public referendum process as required under DC Home Rule Charter.

There are many more blogs with the actually language on how to amend the charter and to do so in this case is possible of the general public wants this change why would they vote against the resolution.

Gore's Political Opportunity Is Fleeting NOT TRUE.

Oxford Analytica
Gore's Political Opportunity Is Fleeting
Oxford Analytica 04.12.07, 6:00 AM ET

Former Vice President Al Gore's 2006 film, An Inconvenient Truth, won an Academy Award in February. On March 21 he returned to Capitol Hill to share his views on global climate change. Gore's message was generally welcomed and given a serious bipartisan hearing. It was the kind of political theater that any Democratic presidential aspirant would welcome, and he has been careful not to rule out another run for the White House. However, a Gore administration still appears very unlikely.

I agree with much of what is being said I dont agree that Gore need to jump into this race before August. The man has 500,000 activist tied to his personal database. AlGore.org and DraftAlgore.com are both in the 6 digit range. It is not too far fetched to think that the moment Al announces he will have at least 200,000 grassroots dems paypaling Al into the front of the Democratic field and on to White House where he belongs.

For what it's worth........

Al Gore to be honoured with Emmy

From the BBC

Al Gore and An Inconvenient Truth director Davis Guggenheim at the Oscars Al Gore's documentary won Academy Award recognition Former US vice president Al Gore is to receive an honorary International Emmy award for his work in broadcasting.

Gore will be recognized for his hard-hitting environmental documentary An Inconvenient Truth, which won two Academy Awards last month. His pivotal role in setting up Current TV, which features programmes made by viewers, is also being honored.

The Founders Award, given to those who "touch our common humanity", will be presented to Gore in November. The International Emmy awards ceremony will take place in New York.

So as a fan of the man to run for President this press is welcome news. I would have to say between the Academy Award, the Nobel Peace Prize and now this, let alone the actually work that Al does everyday to garner these awards he's getting plenty of media.

Heck, does he even need to have a campaign up and running? Actually that has been taken care of by the grass roots folks over and they are at AlGore.org. Those that are -- the only thing they are doing is collecting money to by media time. Now within Al's world of conservation why not try to get both. The strategy is flawless.

We know that every other campaign is opening each day the papers, web browsers and their emails looking to see if they have been mentioned. Good or bad. Now what they also see is some that is not spending money getting just as much press. That sucks for them.

In 2007 it is good to be Al Gore and for those that support him running for President. Which is a job the majority of Americans all ready voted to give him once . I would say looking back to the 2000 elections had the courts not made the vote for us he would be finishing up now and his VP would be running.

Since this did not happen the democratic process has been in hibernation and for the looks of things it is starting to wake up. If I was a candidate thinking that the road to the white house is wide open.

I have one word --Karma.

Al Gore come to Washington

I am just going to say this tonight here on this blog before I go to bed. Al Gore kicked some ass up there and anyone that tells you differently was not there. I was and I loved every bit of it. This is a shot of the guy at the end of the day 2.5 hours and he is on the edge of his seat.

A note to the people out west who senator wasted their time by asking Gore to sign an energy pledge.

Come on, Al Gore is the last person in the United States that needs to sign the pledge. His powerpoint just helped someone win an Oscar doing a story about his powerpoint. This Senator wasted more energy with his hatin and foolery that the whole Gore family.

It's the Environment and who gets and who don't is pretty clear.

Did Clinton have a slip or the tongue or a vision of the future!

The Blog | Steve Rosenbaum: Clinton suggests Gore Sequel... | The Huffington Post

But even for a room accustomed to Rock Stars, the Clinton appearance was pretty electrifying. Clinton arrived and everyone in the room was looking for significance in both what he said and what he didn't say. Clinton had something to say. He commentated on Gore's Oscar win, and then offered his suggestion to the Vice President and film star. "I told Al, you're only half done - you need to make a sequel."

Bill Clinton's statement at TED 2007 give me something to think about and I just want anyone that drops by this blog to join me and do the same.

Here we go. Not the way back machine but the wayout machine. Not a tipping point, it would be a catapult point "CP" with a sequel in which the Gore Clinton camp's join together, reunited for another run at serving in the executive mansions. GoreClinton08. It almost makes my finger shake to type that, No to know that it is possible makes the world shake(see below about rapture).

Plus! a Gore Clinton Ticket just puts this election beyond reach of the GOP in 08 and unites the democratic party in many ways. Come Gore has the karma coming to him, he won in 00.

So to continue flying into my wildest dreams --we see these four people working as the first and second couple of America. GoreClinton08.com sound just fine.......

Here is the thinking that GoreClinton Wins in 08&12 and ClintonTIpper? 2016&20.

I would think that both sides have to take pause and think about what it means to get executive level of service from President Clinton for 16 years. He would be in this dream the 2nd Husband and then as the 1st Husband. OMG I am just besides myself and I also could see this being the CP to start the raptures for some of the religious right.

The whole gang back in Washington again and after 8 years of this HRC would get the keys. Here is the funny thing about this we would get 16 more years of service out of Bill Clinton and a couple more from Al as 2nd Husband under Clinton-HRC & Gore-Tipper 2012&16

OMG again, it would be a doubleheader like with public and religious ends both being met . Start the first and the second came will commence shortly there after.

...............................On a side note! Who makes policy with a group that does not care about the ground they stand upon because they are going to be airlifted from upon it to where is not for this blog to ponder? But, it makes not sense and for that reason alone they should have no say --they want to leave right-- rapture=departure.

Maybe those awaiting the depature should go to some other country and stop, stopping the changes we need to make here to save ourselves.

Hey! This is a dream blog it don't have to make sense it just has to be.

Washington Post has to be a joking covering this story now that it is been show to be false by the AP.

War on Warming Begins at (Al Gore's) Home - washingtonpost.com
War on Warming Begins at (Al Gore's) Home

By Chris Cillizza and Matthew Mosk
Thursday, March 1, 2007; Page A08

Fresh off his victory lap at the Academy Awards, former vice president Al Gore -- who has not closed the door on a 2008 bid -- found himself in a more familiar position: on the receiving end of a political attack.

The barb came via the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, a Nashville-based

Wow the AP has already discreated much of this story and here is the WashPost recycling the talking point like good little foot soldiers.

As for this so called think tank. I have also review most of their published papers and can only wonder if these super sleuth reporters venture in the the way back machine.

Is your reporting budget so cut to the bone that can not afford to Google or a phone call, Google is free. Those phone calls l did them for ya the Center told me they only wanted to cover his consumption and that is what they did. I called up Nicole Williams, (615)383-6431 editor@tennesseepolicy.org you know what she told me "We are only covering Gore's usage from the consumptions side and the carbon offsets were not part of the story and that they got the info from NES"

Which I then called/

The nice lady at the NES Customer Service at 615-736-6900 and give them an address and they will give you the hi and low for the address Now want the more information all one has to do is walk down and hand them 10 buck and you can get a print out of any address. It is all public information yet according to Ms. Martian from NES they would blackout the Name and Account number.

My problem with this story was that the NES does not give an average so how did they get it besides adding it up them self and using some number for the basis. Oh SNAP NES company spokeswoman Laurie Parker said the utility never got a request from the policy center and never gave it any information.

So the numbers they did come up with are false. They exaggerated by 30,000 kwh. The Gores used about 191,000 kilowatt hours in 2006, according to bills reviewed by The Associated Press. The typical Nashville household uses about 15,600 kilowatt-hours per year.
The group said that Gore used nearly 221,000 kilowatt hours last year and that his average monthly electric bill was $1,359. Johnson said his group got its figures from Nashville Electric Service.

What is sad is that the Washington Post puts this under it name. If this is the quality of the reporting we should come to expect from the post. I don't know -- it should really stop and consider it's mission and who it serves the public or the powerful.

Carbon Offset, and what do we need to know that Gore knows

Carbon offset From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A carbon offset is a service that tries to reduce the net carbon emissions of individuals or organizations indirectly, through proxies who reduce their emissions and/or increase their absorption of greenhouse gases.[1] A wide variety of offset actions are available; tree planting is the most common. Renewable energy and energy conservation offsets are also popular, including emissions trading credits.

The intended goal of carbon offsets is to combat global warming.[2] The appeal of becoming "carbon neutral" has contributed to the growth of voluntary offsets, which often are a more cost-effective alternative to reducing one's own fossil-fuel consumption. However, the actual amount of carbon reduction (if any) from an offset project is difficult to measure, largely unregulated, and vulnerable to misrepresentation.[3]

So much is being made todo about Al Gore utilities bills Ok so what is Gore's carbon footprint? 191,000 is the number compared to you or me. The average energy consumption in that climate region is 50% higher than the national average and Gore's per sq foot consumption is actually lower than the average in his region.

Now thowin the in his involvement in Operation Green Switch which is a green choice that we all need to be pushing for in our local areas and with our national leader and want to be leaders.

Tell them to get Gore's powerpoint and get moving in the right direction which by the way is the complete 180 from which we presently travel. Do you at least have the pretzel light bulbs? How about rechargeable batteries?

Pay for what you need support what you know is holistic for us all.

Why is Tennessee Center for Policy Research looking at Al Gore's utilities bills?

So out of no where we have the Tennessee Center for Policy Research going about Gore's personal business which is interesting coming from a group that was hitherto not in the Environment.

Here is their mission statement taken from the Amcius Brief in the Kelso Case

The Tennessee Center for Policy Research is an independent, nonprofit, and nonpartisan research organization dedicated to providing concerned citizens, public leaders, and government officials with expert empirical research and timely free market solutions to public policy issues of the day. The Center encourages solutions to public policy issues grounded in the individual liberty, competition, personal responsibility, and the social capital of the community bonds to achieve a freer and more prosperous Tennessee.

We called Nicole Williams, (615)383-6431 editor@tennesseepolicy.org told and asked here why the Carbon Offets that Gore purchased were not part of the story "We only covering Gore's usage from the consumptions side and the carbon offsets were not part of the story."

Carbon offset What is that?

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia "A carbon offset is a service that tries to reduce the net carbon emissions of individuals or organizations indirectly, through proxies who reduce their emissions and/or increase their absorption of greenhouse gases.[1] A wide variety of offset actions are available; tree planting is the most common. Renewable energy and energy conservation offsets are also popular, including emissions trading credits.

However, the actual amount of carbon reduction (if any) from an offset project is difficult to measure, largely unregulated, and vulnerable to misrepresentation.[3]"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_offset

Here is what the Gore office told Think Progress.

"Gore lives a strict carbon-neutral lifestyle both in his work and private life. That means he tries to reduce his emissions as much as possible, and then purchases carbon offsets for the remaining emissions.

In his private life, Gore tries to reduce his emissions as much as possible. He drives a hybrid, flies commercially whenever he can, and purchases green power. In the few instances where work has demanded that he travel privately, he purchases carbon offsets for the emissions."

All in all this group seen to been coming out of now where with this hit on Gore yet a bit more research shows that the group recently Trent Seibert joined as Director of Government Accountability. After doing a google search on this guy it seems he a bit of reputation for drama and we found this gem.

"So what made me think I could stroll into a television newsroom and do the kinds of stories I did at The Tennessean and The Denver Post without missing a beat?

It could be this: There is an attitude in print journalism that looks down at the world of tv news. When I was working in newspapers, almost all of the ink-stained reporters thought that tv work was akin to standing up by the scene of the fire/crime/shooting/debate, saying a few words to the camera and then heading home for martinis.

Man, was I wrong about that.

Trent Seibert http://www.target2tv.com/

So I guess TV did not work out and he is not a hit man for Environmental issues which would explain how a group like TCPR went from some some dry, but fairly well researched positions & statement to just reaching for some publicity.

It looks like Trent did learn something from TV after all.

Gore, Oscar and message for the world the "Will to Act"

Gore uses Oscar speech to plug environmental cause - CNN.com
LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Sure, the White House slipped from former Vice President Al Gore's grasp, but how many politicians end up on stage at Oscar night?

"An Inconvenient Truth," which turned Gore's lectures on the threat of global warming into a highly touted theatrical release, won the Academy Award for best documentary feature Sunday night.

Singer Melissa Etheridge also received the Oscar for best original song, "I Need to Wake Up," which was written for the movie.

Gore used the award as another opportunity to plug the environmental cause, telling the Hollywood audience and an estimated 1 billion television viewers that resolving the threat posed by a warming climate is "not a political issue, it's a moral issue." (Watch Gore talk about his cause and his movie Video)

"We have everything we need to get started, with the possible exception of the will to act," he said. "That's a renewable resource. Let's renew it."

I think that Al did the right thing by taking the time to talk to 1 billion people about the simple power of our collective will to make a difference. So since he said my Fellow American twice the third time will be the charm.

Hint to the the Draft Al Gore people keep up the good work Al Gore will be drafted to run for President in 2008. Until then and even after I do know that he will be leading the leaders around the world on the global climate challenge. So go download the song. Join a www.DraftAlGore.Meetup.com

Clinton and Obama need to move on and campaign.

Clinton and Obama row over backer
Hillary Clinton
Reported on the BBC's website.

Ms Clinton has tried to take the political high ground in the row
A row has erupted between two major contenders for the US Democratic Party's presidential nomination in 2008, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

It was sparked after Hollywood mogul David Geffen hosted a fundraiser for Mrs Clinton's rival and called her overly ambitious in an interview.

Mr Geffen, who once backed Bill Clinton, also claimed the former first lady might be a "polarising" figure.

Please note that there is plenty of money to go around and fighting about it is not going to re-elect-a-democrat. So move on and let hear about some policy issues

Rasmussen only poll what it wants too now?

2008 Democratic Presidential Primary: Clinton 28% Obama 24% Edwards 11% - Yahoo! News
rasmussenreports.com Tue Feb 20, 10:31 AM ET

There's little change this week in the Democratic nomination contest. Senator
Hillary Clinton (D) continues to lead with 28% of the vote from Likely Democratic Primary Voters nationwide. The latest Rasmussen Reports Election 2008 poll shows Senator Barack Obama (news, bio, voting record) (D) still in second place with 24% of the vote. Former Senator
John Edwards (D) has support from 11% and former Vice President
Al Gore (D) weighs in at 10%.

While Gore still attracts more support than many who are actively seeking the nomination, the Democrats' Election 2000 nominee indicated again last week that he has no intention of running for office at this time. Therefore, unless something changes, Rasmussen Reports will no longer include the former Vice President in our ongoing tracking of this race.

Hold on here...... from the same company only a couple of weeks ago

Former North Carolina Senator John Edwards (D) earns support from just 10% of those polled. Edwards has consistently been in third place. However, now he shares that spot with former Vice President Al Gore. For Gore that reflects a slight gain from the 8% level of support he enjoyed a week ago

The Rasmussen Report by it's own polling data shows Al Gore climbing from 8 percent on February 5, 2007 to 10 percent on February 19, 2007. How is this not something that should be watch and dialoged about this the people that you poll. Clearly your own data suggest that American are interested in Al Gore.

Again, from Rasmussen own website.

Gore, Clinton Lead Romney by Double Digits
February 8, 2007
Republican Mitt Romney

Former Vice President Al Gore (D) leads former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney (R) 52% to 38% in the latest Rasmussen Reports Election 2008 poll. A month ago, Gore had an 11-point lead over Romney.

Senator Hillary Clinton (D) has upped her lead over Romney to double digits. She now leads the Republican Presidential hopeful 51% to 41%. A month ago, the former First Lady was ahead of Romney 49% to 41%.

Seeing how Mitt is one of the front runners on the GOP side checking the pulse of the public as to which Dem would run better against Mitt or anyother GOP canidate would seem to make sense. Now here is a bit of political advice from our years working with elected officals. If a politicans says they were or were not going to run for an election or for that matter do what they say they are going to do you may just want to stick around to see if that is the case in long run.

So I would also suggest that the Rasmussen Report come back and look at this blog post just so it can know how stupid, sorry for the poor choice of words, however this either is that or a joke. Or Rasmussen could get back to polling and not trying to stovepipe the information it makes the group look all illuminatish.

Associated Press

LOS ANGELES - Al Gore rolling with Snoop Dogg? What would Tipper think!

The former vice president announced Thursday a series of worldwide concerts to focus on the threat of climate change, with a powerhouse line-up from the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Bon Jovi to the aforementioned D-O-DOUBLE-G.

The 24-hour event on July 7 is part of a campaign, "Save Our Selves - The Campaign for a Climate in Crisis," that promoters hope will trigger a broad movement to address the global climate crisis.

"We have to reach billions of people," the environmental activist, filmmaker and 2000 Democratic presidential nominee said in a statement.

"The climate crisis will only be stopped by an unprecedented and sustained global movement."

BBC NEWS | Asia-Pacific | Blast close to US base in Japan
Blast close to US base in Japan
Map of Tokyo
There has been a small explosion near a United States' military base south of the Japanese capital, Tokyo, US officials have confirmed.

The blast happened outside the Camp Zama army base around 40km (25 miles) south-west of Tokyo.

Police found two pipes believed to have contained explosives close to the camp, Kyodo News agency reported.

A Pentagon official said that there were no reports of injuries caused by the blast.

"A small explosion was heard in the vicinity of the base," said Air Force Maj David Smith.

"It did not occur on the base."

Residents said the explosion took place at around 2300 local time (1600 GMT).

The US military has more than 40,000 troops in Japan stationed on several sizeable bases under a bilateral security deal.

Some Japanese residents oppose the presence of the bases, but attacks are rare.

In 2002, two blasts occurred outside Camp Zama, an attack police blamed on extremists.

So we have our friends in the land of the rising sun unhappy with the US presence. I have to agree that it is time to close those bases and let our troops be redeployed to areas where they are needed like the home front.

Gore and Gingrich Are Going Nowhere
By Peter Brown

Everyone and their grandmother, it seems, has decided to run for president in 2008. But conspicuous by their hesitation are Democrat Al Gore and Republican Newt Gingrich, who are holding back to see if they really do have a chance.

They should stop holding their breath. Their time in the limelight, and their opportunity for national office, has come and gone.

Simply put, neither man is very well thought of among the mass of voters who decide the November election. And, not to put too fine a point on it, Americans don't turn over the Oval Office to people they don't like.

Dear Peter,

I could not agree more with your point --American's vote for the people they like. That is why they elected Al Gore to be their President and he will be the people's choice in 08.

PS.

Currently on Democrats.com Gore hold steady at 25 point lead over Clinton, Edwards, Obama all are at 15 percent or so. This is the base.

NFL Lawyers Put Super Bowl Party Organizers On Alert

• NFL tells churches planned Super Bowl parties violate copyright law
• WNBC-TV 7:42 p.m. EST February 4, 2007

NEW YORK - The NFL is known for running a tight ship to protect the brand and protect the lucrative business of pro football. NFL lawyers even fired off a letter to an Indiana church, warning it not to stray out of bounds of copyright laws with its planned Super Bowl party, NewsChannel reported. Apparently, the church's television screen is too big. Who knew?

Depending upon what position it is, size does matter in the NFL. And apparently, at certain Super Bowl parties, the size of your television set matters,

Let me get this straight. The owners of the airwaves, the roads, the police and the cities that these team play in are out of line according to the NFL and any "Mass "out-of-home viewings,"" are forebidden. I say these owners better be counting their good luck and should not be bitting the hand that feeds it.

Congress needs to step and put the public's good first and foremost in the future plans of the NFL owners they have their own TV channel which is a slice of the public's spectrum. I can only hope that are next leader sticks up for people not companies. We are not ENGLAND.

Feb. 3, 2007 - Poor Kevin Federline. Nobody wants him. When he tried to be a rapper last fall, only 300 "fans" showed up to his New York concert, and two thirds of them left before the final number. Then wife Britney Spears sent him packing, leaving him with little but the nickname "Fed-Ex." Now the restaurant industry won't even have him as a fry cook, thanks to a Super Bowl commercial for Nationwide Insurance in which Federline is rudely awakened from daydreams of rap stardom by his manager at a fast-food restaurant barking, "Federline. Fries!"

The 30-second spot so enraged the National Restaurant Association, the lobbying arm of America's 935,000 restaurants, that it sent an angry missive to Nationwide calling the ad a "direct insult to the 12.8 million Americans who work in the restaurant industry." Apologetic but unrepentant, Nationwide refused to pull the commercial, insisting that it hadn't intend to insult anyone except for, well, Federline.

If the fast-food industry can't seem to take a joke, it's because, just like K-Fed, it's gotten a bad rap lately.

I was reading this artice and going okkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa right up intill gotten a bad rap, Jennifer they earned it every note of the rap is owned by the Fast Food, sure at some point the people going there have to take control of their lives, but until they do and these people make more money as our nation's health is at an all time low. Seem like a relationship we would want to switch.

Or that is just me and in retrospect Kevin seem more likey to show up for work than Brit now adays.

Officials: Warming 'very likely' due to man. DUH

Officials: Warming 'very likely' due to man - World Environment - Reported via the AP on MSNBC.

PARIS - Officials from 113 countries agreed Thursday that a much-awaited report will say that recent global warming was “very likely” caused by human activity — a significant change from an earlier report but less than the “virtually certain” phrase that some had championed.

Gee you would think someone that brought this to the attention of the people would get nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize or something!

Gore Film Sparks Parents' Anger

Gore Film Sparks Parents' Anger - washingtonpost.com

"No you will not teach or show that propagandist Al Gore video to my child, blaming our nation -- the greatest nation ever to exist on this planet -- for global warming,"

Is this parent saying that we have global warming, but it's not American fault. Is not the point that we have it the blame game gets no one closer to the fix. Gore's movie is a statement about our times. This is not animation of climate change it is real change and it is happening so fast that not special effects are needed to make the visual points that Gore and his Acadmey nominated documentry.

What is being posted about leaders

ANONYMOSES

- Elect wise leaders with a record of world maintenence, like Al Gore, John Edwards, Robert Redford, Constance Rice or The Yogurthead Man. Sex-changes are easy these days, even fun! (I've done it three times now, and am now working on my second species change. Genus is next.)

So you see, it is not too late. You don't have to give up and lose everything just because a moron from Texas is so power-crazed that he wants to bring it all down with him. Let HIM go down instead, then laugh at him derisively for having such evil and adolescent notions. Send in the clowns, and lock up the serial killing mass murderers.

Future and Fun begin with "f. u..."
So tell your president "F. U." next time you see him.
This will cause the world to not end.

Wil the fix or anyone else see Gore through the trees.

Will Gore Make Another Run?

Yesterday's debut of the Sunday Fix in The Washington Post looked at the slim (but hard to ignore) possibility that Al Gore will make the race for president in 2008.

But until Gore comes out and flatly rules out a 2008 run, it would be crazy to ignore the possibility that he will run again. If the energy currently crackling through the activist community for a Gore candidacy fails to abate with Obama's expected announcement, AND if Clinton looks to be a heavy favorite heading into the summer and fall, it may be impossible for Gore to turn down a race. Until then, we'll be watching closely.

What this article and many others are not talking about is the grass Roots support for Al Gore. Like www.DCforGore08.com Take a look at the Meetup too.

John Bolton resigns from the United Nations.

Bolton May Not Return As U.N. Envoy - washingtonpost.com
John R. Bolton as ambassador to the United Nations, all but killing chances for him to remain in the post past December.
Well, I guess that BJ saw the writting on the wall and pulled the plug himself.

More coming as new emerges.
