District of Columbia is the Nation’s Capital

D.C. Subcommittee Hearing on the Structural Imbalance of the District of Columbia: Testimony of The Honorable Tom Davis, Representative, U.S. House of Representatives BLAH BLAH BLA.. follow the link to read it all.

The city has been unable to make the type of IT investments that yield real financial and citizen-service returns. With the exception of the District’s Tax Office, the IT investment revolution that’s occurred in local governments across the country has bypassed D.C. Did not someone with the initials M. J. run a local telco that was supposed to be building out that library and school network. Do we have one today.

The District has taken care of its financial house. It has balanced its budget for seven consecutive years, without tricks or gimmicks, and it has a cash reserve that is the envy of every municipality in the Nation.

Fave part.

To further drive home the need for a federal investment, we are not here discussing some random city. The District of Columbia is the Nation’s Capital, and maintaining it, growing it and modernizing it – these are national responsibilities.

Ward 5 Endorsement

On Saturday July 22nd the Dems in Ward 5 held their strawpoll ballet on a number of elections. As no one is suprised Mr. Orange bussed in the troops every last one which added up to 34 % with Ms. Cropp coming in second with 31% showing that strong field opperation since the location change less then 30 hours before the event. Third and not least Mr. Fenty showed up, and only for 5 miniutes, with a wooping 21% Last everyone else Johns, Brown ect in single digits.

Some in Congress what to do more than just say no

Republican Rep. Frank R. Wolf, from Washington's Virginia suburbs, said he would support additional federal funding for crime control in the district.

Although officials cannot control the economic or cultural factors behind some crimes, they can focus on crimes of opportunity, like the Mall robberies.

"The people who did it รข€¦ saw an opportunity that they thought would allow them to commit a crime and get away with it," McDonald said, adding that increased patrols can deter criminals by increasing their risk of getting caught.

Fenty has not Emerged from the DC Pack.

Fenty Emerges From D.C. Pack
The Washington Post is interested in making this race competitive by leaving out several of the following points in their analysis and this poll. Plus, why didn't they just ask registered voters since they are the only ones that count.

Here is the quote from the post:

Overall, voters say overwhelmingly that the District's economic revival has been good for the city as a whole, for the middle class, for neighborhoods, for local businesses and for people like them.

So this is what voters feel the state of the District is for them, as opposed to Mr. Fenty's "feelings" and sentiments during Mayoral debates where he's said that the whole city is a complete mess: I don't need to quote one since he has knocked on your door and told you his problems as well as his "vision" for the District. Right? So did he tell you what you wanted to hear or what he has done and will do later?

Like with his personal choices with regards to DCPS. Mr. Fenty's kids go to private schools, which I don't have a problem with. I do have a problem with him having promised to put his kids in public schools IF HE WINS. The bigger question is why are they not in public schools now? Gee! What do you think about kids being made into a political tool.

Mr Fenty, it seems has chosen to place them in private schools right! So I guess since he is one of them old fashioned dads he can simply chose to place them in public school. Who cares what they want. If we polled your house I bet there are a couple of shaky votes. Ms Cropp sent her kids to and taught in DCPS. Who is better prepared to deal with this issue then Cropp, with a lifetime of interaction with in and running our public schools or Fenty with none?

Once the voters realize the total package contained in the crime bill for which Mr. Fenty was the lone nay vote that he voted against more than the 3 things being reported. According to the WashPost "Although nearly three in four residents say they feel safe in their neighborhoods, they are worried about the city's ability to protect them"

So the most important issues identified in this campaign by the voter all seem to back up the Chariman and what the post forgot the mention it has stated and the DCBOEE records show that Ms. Cropp is the leading fund raiser. Overall, Cropp has collected the most: $1.77 million, Fenty $1.75 million is what the post reported the same day they allowed an aritcle to go out saying Mr. Fenty was leading in fund raising.

As to polls let the voters show on Sept. 12th who is the leader of the District.

Does DC need the Dali Lama to come back

A few months ago we have the pleasure of havin the Dali in the District. Me thinks we need him back, but until he comes back here is a campic for your viewing pleasure.

Here is someone that knows about crime and DC.

Eric Holder's quote

"It's disappointing to hear that he[Fenty] voted against the emergency. There is a critical need in the city now to mobilize all of our resources to deal with this emergency situation. Linda Cropp understands that short term measures such as this coupled with long term efforts to deal with the conditions that breed crime are the only way to make our city truly safe. This is exactly why I endorsed her for Mayor."

What do those that know about crime say on the DC crime bill

"It's disappointing to hear that he[Fenty] voted against the emergency. There is a critical need in the city now to mobilize all of our resources to deal with this emergency situation. Linda Cropp understands that short term measures such as this coupled with long term efforts to deal with the conditions that breed crime are the only way to make our city truly safe. Lost Power in the Capitol of the free world?

While this is old news, we thought that it would give some bearing on how this blog is going to roll. We roll like this:

I am not talking about the GOP complete meltdown in credibility, but I will later, I am referring to the lost of power suffered in only 1 building in Washington DC.

That right folks the only building that has had a dedicated power source since 1910. The US Capitol suffers what the AP and the rest of the sheep dipped media are reporting as a "power spike".

No one is really questing this. Why would Pepco have anything to say about this. Why was the Capitol evacuated, and last but most interesting why did Homeland Securtiy

" It's routine procedure to evacuate the building," said spokesman Eric Ueland.

A Department of Homeland Security official said it was a "simple power outage" that only affected the Capitol not other buildings.

make any comment about this and not the Sergeant of Arms or Architect of the Capitol offices?

Just make me wonder, since I have been putting together a Utility Aggregation company and would love to have the Capitol as a client. Maybe one day someone will get around to looking into this matter. Oh No!
